You've Arrived!

Welcome to the 2001 Virtual
Global Super Projects Conference

Click to visit the World Development FederationSince 1992 the World Development Federation (WDF) has held conferences in various locations around the world. These Global Super Projects Conferences (GSPCs) have focused on large (usually $1 billion or more) projects that have tremendous impact on economic development. The projects run the gamut from new chip plants to infrastructure - such as the Channel Tunnel - that creates global linkages. Previous conferences have been held in Singapore, Barcelona, Osaka, Paris, Honolulu and other places around the world.

In 2001 for the First Time,
WDF is holding a Virtual Conference.

From Nov. 16 until mid-December, we will post papers from organizations in 14 different countries. The topics vary tremendously; some relate to projects that are seriously under discussion to others that are "pie in the sky" ideas; others are projects that are underway, while still others are case studies of completed projects.

The Papers are Divided into Nine Categories ('Sessions'):
Communications; Environment; Global Venues; Knowledge Infrastructure & Technology; Project Management & Finance; Space and Technology; Transportation; Urban Development; and Water & Energy.
We invite you to browse through the papers, read as many or as few as you like, and post questions for the authors on each paper's message board. The authors will respond as soon as possible. There will be no live interaction, but we do anticipate some lively discussions.

We hope you enjoy the 2001 Virtual Global Super Projects Conference!
Please let us know how we may make it more enjoyable and informative in the future.
